Under the moon, she floated in the pool. Sprawled on top of the water, back down and face up, just staring into space. Water muted sounds of the nearby highway were nearly inaudible. Close to sensory depravation with the dark, the cold, and the silence. She merely stared off, catching a falling star here and there and getting lost.
“…ey….h…hey!” pulled her mind down from the heavens. The silhouette said man, but the voice said boy. Stance slightly cocky, one leg straight and the other bent, an arm bent with hand on waist. “Hey. You gotta get out of here, lady. Pool’s closed.”
When death comes, do we fly over the leaves or dig under the roots?
It depends my child on how well you water life. Burn and slash your way in the world and you become nourishment yet grow flowers from fields of weeds and you become the coolness of shade.
