“How’s the weather?” my dad asked.
“We had a bit of snow,” I answered. “Not enough to get the ground really wet.” I knew the next topic would be the Super Bowl. Weather and football–our two safe-to-discuss topics.
Sure enough, he said, “Got any special plans for the big game?” My secret plan was to go to a movie, but it would break his heart if I told him that, so . . .
