Recently my book club read “To the End of the Land” by David Grossman. The Jewish members of my book club thought the book was fraught with tension and held meaningful insights. I suppose it is my failure to be Jewish, my failure to understand all the nuances of what is happening to the residents of Israel, but I could not get into the book. I couldn’t even finish it.
But, isn’t that the joy of a book club–to give you more of an understanding than you get from reading a book on your own?
