Just the spot

The planter near the gate
Is just the spot
For a red geranium.

The bright red blossoms
Work their greeting magic
All summer long.

Welcoming visitors to
The house behind the gate
To conversation and tea.

  2. This was just the spot. An owl hooted somewhere in the forest around him. Marcus started to dig. It was heavy going; the sodden earth was compact, cloying and resisted. Just like Tricia! Far from being an easy lay, she had fought back. Marcus pushed the corpse into the hole.
