Not all calories are equal. That’s what I heard them say on the radio. Foods that are slow to digest, e.g. not heavily refined like white bread, are slower to digest. They make you feel satisfied longer. So stick to the whole naked food and give up the fast and easy stuff. Sorry, but you still have to exercise.
