Puppies

There were older dogs replete with grey-haired dignity and wire cages teeming with squirming puppies at the adoptapalooza. I was thinking something small that would be a nice house dog. I passed up rows  of larger breeds before I spotted her. She was pure white, bouncing with excitement over all the dogs and people around. I stopped in front of her and . . .

    The sheer exuberance of Mitzi as she romped through the yard, ears flopping, tail high, eyes sparkling always brought a smile and a sense of well being to me. Not today though. The news from the vet just an hour ago was too
    sad to be lightened by her antics.
