Chicago dogs are a puzzlement to me. What the hell are you supposed to do with those damn pickles? Eat them along with the bun or hold them in your hand and munch them once in a while? And tomatoes – really, tomatoes. I mean, why? A Chicago dog is not something you devour in two bites while walking around the fair grounds or watching a ball game. It’s a big deal that requires concentration and expertise. It’s a meal experience. Give me a bun, a frank, and a glob of mustard. Period.

I do not know about Chicago dogs – never been to Chicago.
But I do know that a 16 year old girl many years ago working in
a dimestore in Detroit, Michigan was able to devour the best
hot dogs she ever tasted.
Warming on a rotating machine, skin sizzling, warm bun and
the hot dog was covered with mustard, onions and chili
To this day I have never tasted anything like it….
