Favorite Movie

I called my sister while standing in front of the art house theater, reading the list of upcoming movies. It was 17 degrees in the sun, and I was in the shade. I clutched my arms to my sides for warmth while I waited for her to pick up.

“Hello,” she said.

“It’s on at the art house starting next weekend,” I said. I heard her quick intake of breath. “I’ll have to cancel some things,” she said.

It recently hit me, once again, that my favorite movies involve damaged people. I believe this to be more real. Watched a movie called Untamed Heart. Christian Slater plays a guy who was sickly as a child and grew up apart. He cannot relate to normalcy. I like characters that show their pain on the outside, characters who can do nothing but.
    These are honest people.
