The sun

Patio Cover

The sun is moving north. Soon the patio cover I added to my house last fall will begin its duties shading my east facing windows from the Southwest’s fierce sun. All winter, the low southern sun sent light and heat through those windows, but the world is turning into a position that will put the shade to the test. Will it keep my living room cooler in the summer? Will I be able to sit on my patio on summer mornings and enjoy a glass of iced tea without baking to a crisp?

  1. The morning

The beat, the beat rose. beating, beating louder and louder until the earth shook, then the pipes began the soft song of the silence between, together louder, louder making love to the beat, the beat. Voices join in and sing the world as the Sun rises to kiss the day.
