“Scattered” might be a polite description of the woman interviewing me. The old-fashioned word “daffy” really fit her better. She failed to finish her sentences and changed directions in mid-thought. It was a waste of my time. So I decided to take over the interview.

“Charlotte,” I said, “why don’t I explain what I can do to help this nonprofit succeed?”

She nodded encouragingly so I went on, . . .
