  1. “I heard two gunshots,” I told the 911 operator. She wanted to know where I was and how close the gunshots were so I told her in hopes that police cruisers would arrive instantly in my neighborhood. It took such a long time for any police to show up that there was no chance that someone with a gun was still hanging around.

When they finally arrived, one officer knocked on my door–laughing. “Ma’m, it was the neighbor down the street working on his old car–the engine was back firing.”

    “I’m sorry officer! I didn’t know.”

“No problem. Better to be safe than sorry. Besides we were bored sitting in the office.”

  2. The FBI Agent whipped out his 9-millimeter pistol and checked the clip. Two bullets left. His hopes of getting off of the island were fading rapidly. The support helicopter was too far away to be of any use. He needed to compromise: One bullet for the enemy, one for himself.

    1. I love it…you have actually told the whole story, oh, but the wonder of what drove the agent to this final act??? Lingered with me, and will probably think on this one through the day.. Very cool!!

  3. Just the two of them, against the world. She didn’t have much but she had her self and she had her new friend that she had rescued during the stormy night. She had spotted the little lost pup, trembling and under a bush near her camp. She’d been able to dash into the storm and pull him into her tent, where she’d fed him and dryed him off, after which they both felll into deep sleep.

  4. It was already two in the morning, and she had not been able to sleep. The howling wind outside frightened her, and she kept thinking of the big, old evergreen located close to her bedroom windows that had been swaying earlier in the evening at the whim of the gusty winds. She figured that sleep would not be coming any time soon—at least, not for tonight.

  5. Two, an even number, causes things to happen that are positive. It constitutes a team that can work toward a common goal or dream. Because two can become one that desire the same thing, the number relates to success. Team accomplishment means happiness and accomplishment. Two is a desirable number.
