Writing Music

Do you have a favorite music for writing? When I have to write all day I like to play meditative music like Pachelbel’s Canon. I can play jazz or blues very quietly in the background for some kinds of writing. Sometimes I need it to be completely quiet. Loud music, fast music, rock music won’t work to write with for me.

  1. Writing music was out of question for me.When my daughters started learning the Hindustani classical from a guru, he wrote pages upon pages of unintelligible gibberish. On closer scrutiny they contained the same twelve notes in various combinations. I always thought songs were to be learnt on the go, by merely hearing about them, and not by memorising page upon page of painstakingly written notes. 2. My favorite kind of writing music is classical, preferably Baroque, with Bach heading the list and then Vivaldi. For me, it’s conducive to making the creative juices flow since it’s the only type of music that doesn’t distract my thought process. Master composers that help me along when the muse strikes.
