She stood at the window, waiting the last few moments for the coffee to be ready. A spectacular new dawn made her drawn in her breath and stare in wonder. Perhaps it would be a better day. A day of promise. She could hope.

  1. A new dawn devoid of sunshine greeted me today while the radio announced news of an impending blizzard headed in our direction. Emergency measures have been implemented and now it’s just a waiting game to see how much snow will fall and how much damage it will cause. All I know is that we’ll all be hunkering down, as advised, for the next couple of days.

    A new promise in the air
    A new energy
    A new faith
    A belief that all is going to be well
    A strong whiff of die hard optimism
    A wet balcony awash with warm sunshine
    And we shall live again.

  3. A new dawn. Australia. As hot as the day he left. Bronzed arms glistening with sweat. Would she ever see him again? Him in the shower holding the only thing to bring her pure ecstasy? She thought not. He was such an unreliable plumber. And she couldn’t fix a faucet.

    Thanks for accepting my 50 words, even though I’m probably a few days late for this one. I just couldn’t resist trying my hand at a bit of hot humor 🙂

  4. She rested her back on the pillow propped up on her headboard. The baby in her arms flailed his legs and arms in hunger. With only a lavender scented candle flickering on her bookshelf, in the peaceful dimness of the room mother and baby connected. She nursed him almost immediately back to sleep. He cooed in her arms. Through the slits of the vertical blinds, the light of dawn crept in. She smiled in the glow of twilight. The baby breathed in deeply as she exhaled at the thought of a new day. Hope stirred in her still…
