Remember when we used to call them burglars? What do we call them nowadays? Kids looking for drug money? They kicked in the door and ransacked the house, but they were looking for money, not things. The TV, the X-box, the computer: it’s all still here. My sense of security and safety are gone. That’s what they really took.

  1. As soon as Ralph unlocked his front door, he knew he had been robbed. The burglar had left Ralph’s cowboy boots in the hallway that faced the entrance door. They definitely weren’t there when he left the apartment that evening.

His anger escalated as the adrenaline coursing through his body made him react. He began going through the apartment looking for whatever damage had been caused without giving any thought to the danger this could entail.

He noticed that most of the items missing were the electronic devices he owned as well as some jewelry that had been on his dresser. He sat on his bed and reached for the phone to call the police. Inside the bedroom closet, a perfectly still man lurked and looked through the louvers of the closet door…

  2. “Last night I saw a burglar.”
The boy calmly took a sip of his hot morning tea, and declared to his stunned family.
Mama’s hand froze in the sink;tap still running , she turned towards him and asked, almost in a whisper-“then why didn’t you wake me up?”
“He was looking in through my window” the boy continued calmly, taking a bite off his toast and noisily chewing.
“Omg!!” The drama queen sister pulled her earplugs away, abandoning Taylor Swift midsong.
“Did he wave a gun at you ?”
“I wish he had stolen that wretched ipad of yours”
The air around the table shifted rapidly from fear to fight.
Mama didn’t like it one bit.

  3. The burglar entered the house through an open window as the family slept. Everyone was sound asleep on that summer night, and not a sound was heard as he quietly searched for anything of value. He took a television and exited through the same window. The thief was never heard.
