I Saw

I saw the full moon rising over the Sandias, their pink sunset glow washed out by the blazing light of the moon. It took but minutes for the complete circle of light to rise above the mountains. It took but minutes for me to stop, watch, and reset my heart. Sometimes it’s easy to find peace. It helps if you’re outside.

  1. Alicia had never made up her mind as to whether she believed in life after death or a Supreme Being. Her very dearest friend, Gwen, died after a valiant fight with leukemia. She loved animals and anyone in the neighborhood who wanted or needed to find a home for their pet dropped it off at Gwen’s barn. She even had a parakeet living in her house who would come sit on visitors’ shoulders. One day as Alicia was doing dishes and thinking about Gwen a beautiful bluebird arrived and perched on a branch of her magnolia tree. Without hesitation she just knew that this was a sign from Gwen to ease her sadness. Bluebirds had never been to her property in five years. This was special!
