My new favourite author is Devdutt Pattanaik . He writes books on hindu mythology , draws his own illustrations and even conducts a TV show on mythology . He has read scriptures , and is conversant with the nuances of the stories and philosophy therein .
He simplifies complex scripts , and does not just present a literal translation . He transcribes tales and retells them . In his easy-to-comprehend lucid language . He decodes mantras , rituals , and customs . A formidable religious text is converted into a paperback , that can be assimilated .
I think he has brought hinduism down to our doorstep like no other author has ever done . Without having sullied them with fictitious pretense .
