As soon as the music started, I tapped my foot happily to the beat. “Bah,” he said. “Mere bubblegum pop. Turn on something worth hearing.”
“But I like this,” I said. “It’s happy.”
“It’s simplistic drivel. I won’t allow it in my head.”
I turned it off, but I always remember this as the moment I stopped respecting my dad.

Bazooka Bubblegum: Pink – huge bubbles – loud pops – cartoons included in the beginning. People buy pink bubblegum-scented body washes, etc. because they love the aroma. I can’t look at the wall. It makes me totally nauseous. Ugh! Bubblegum belongs in your mouth – stuck to the bottom of a diner table – or in an old movie house under the seat. Not on a wall. At any rate, this is my laugh for the day. Oh, how could I forget? It also belongs stuck to your nose if you pop a huge bubble. Total fun. I can’t pop them any longer because my rescue pooch is nervous about loud popping noises. So I had to give it up.
