Favorite Places

Tent Rocks National Monument 8

Tent Rocks National Monument – ever hear of it? It’s an out of the way spot between Albuquerque and Santa Fe full of beautiful and unusual rock formations. I’ve been there before and I’m planning to go again. I’m looking forward to it. It’s a favorite place for me full of happy memories. Don’t you love getting out of town?

  1. Time for Two
A twig rocker on an open porch,
a rusty swing beside the garden,
a corner of the couch with just the right cushions
and a good light for reading,
a red chair on the patio when the firepit is burning low,
a kitchen table with porcelain top and sturdy chairs,
all of these are favorite places,
as long as you are in them with me.

  2. I could say my favorite place was a little spot on the edge of a cliff in Santorini, where I was lost in the light and shadow being cast over the Aegean sea by one of the most beautiful sunsets I’d ever seen. I could say it’s the wooden nook of my childhood that I had made into my secret spot for book reading, sticker collecting, and of course shelter from earthquakes. But really my favorite place is the nook between your arm and chest, where I fit ever so perfectly— a sight of beauty and the feeling of shelter all in one. Never out of season, always warm and inviting…
